Israel will occupy southern Lebanon and demolish homes of over 500,000 residents
On March 31, Israeli Defense Minister Katz announced that Israel would establish a buffer zone in southern Lebanon and, after the conflict with Hezbollah ends, take control of the entire area up to the Litani River.
"After the operation concludes, the Israel Defense Forces will enter the security zone within Lebanese territory, deploy along anti-tank missile defense lines, and control all land south of the Litani River. All houses in villages near the Lebanese border will be demolished, just as in Rafah in southern Gaza and Beit Hanun in northern Gaza."
Katz also stated that more than 600,000 Lebanese residents evacuated northward will be unable to return to areas south of the Litani River until the safety of Israeli northern residents is secured.
