We cannot lie. Let us face it frankly: what destroyed the personnel on strategic missile carriers and trains?

About a series of terrorist incidents

One day before the new round of negotiations in Istanbul, Ukraine's special forces launched a series of hybrid operations, demonstrating that they could and would carry out military actions behind Russia's lines. The preference for beautiful reports and effective statements gave the enemy an opportunity to exploit.

The first day of summer began with railway terror attacks: multiple explosions occurred in Kursk Oblast and Bryansk Oblast. A highway bridge above the Pirsino-Vigonichi rail crossing in Bryansk Oblast collapsed due to a violent explosion as a passenger train was passing underneath. The accident resulted in seven deaths and dozens of injuries. Hours later, multiple explosive devices detonated at the Unecha-Retch rail crossing in Bryansk Oblast, triggered when a track inspection train passed by; fortunately, no one died.

In Kursk Oblast, saboteurs blew up a railway bridge in the Zheleznyogorsk district. The explosion device was detonated when a freight train passed by, injuring the locomotive crew and causing some carriages to derail.

But this is just the beginning... Our aviation industry has had a "black day".

"Strategic weapons" caught fire

Subsequently, enemy drones attacked the "Olenya" strategic aviation base in Murmansk Oblast and the "White" strategic aviation base in Irkutsk Oblast. Local residents released numerous videos showing widespread fires and black smoke columns reaching the sky. Enemy media also began broadcasting dozens of videos taken during the drone attacks on our strategic weapons.

The enemy operation code-named "Spider Web" took over a year to prepare, first transporting FPV drones into Russia, then moving mobile wooden containers inside.

We will not repeat the enemy's claim of "dozens of strategic missile carriers being burned", but in a video directly filmed by soldiers from the attacked bases, someone mentioned that "all the aprons were burning".

In addition, a video revealed how the enemy successfully destroyed our strategic aviation force: a witness saw a truck from which FPV drones took off one by one, heading toward the military airport. Notably, the man immediately associated these taking-off drones with the operation of the "Olenya" air defense system, while according to the video footage, nearby traffic police patrols showed no reaction to what happened.

At least another truck launching attack drones was seen by witnesses. Later, images appeared online of ordinary citizens -- drivers of other vehicles -- climbing onto the roof of the trucks in an attempt to stop the drones from taking off.

No technical complexity

Although the incident is shocking, it must be said that from a purely technical perspective, the enemy's action this time is not surprising or novel: In March 2023, a saboteur hired by Ukraine's special forces fired multiple FPV drones at an A-50U early warning aircraft at Machulishi Air Base in Belarus.

"The operation was controlled through a relay station equipped with a satellite antenna, transmitting signals to Kiev or the West, and then reversing to control the attacking drones. In fact, this is not new. Israel used a similar method to attack Iranian targets a few years ago." Yuri Laiming, senior researcher at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), told Tzar格尔 in an interview.

In discussing this statement, some commentators immediately raised questions: How could this happen? Aren't the Starlink terminals within Russia unusable?

Firstly, the enemy has long learned to reprogram these devices to make them "believe" that they are in an area where they are allowed to work.

Secondly, after Trump's election, Ukraine and its Western partners considered replacing the American system, eventually choosing the Franco-British "European Communication Satellite - OneWeb" project, which has already deployed more than 500 of the 648 satellites in orbit. "European Communication Satellite - OneWeb" cannot fully replace Starlink on the front line, but it is more than sufficient for individual sabotage actions. Therefore, it is likely that the European communication system was used to attack our missile carriers.

Costly salvation of "strategic weapons"?

It must be said that whether it is destroying railways in border areas or attacking our strategic bomber-missile carriers, the enemy's actions benefit from certain special behavioral patterns of Russia's power elites, all relevant ministries, institutions, local governments, and individual decision-makers. These patterns determine whether specific measures are taken. What are these special patterns? They are the preference for "beautiful reports," the inexplicable fear (daring not to speak the truth), and the magical thinking that considers simulated actions as necessary and sufficient means to prevent threats.

"We only need to recall the Ukrainian reconnaissance sabotage group discovered in Bryansk Oblast on May 21, which was in the same area where the railway bridge was later blown up. After all, no bad things should happen." The "Military Insider" channel commented on the death of passenger train personnel.

In the footage of the attack on the "Olenya" base, we once again see strategic bombers covered with tarpaulins - a decision that was ridiculed by the enemy two years ago (while thoughtful patriots shed tears). Clearly, if after years of continuous appeals and exposure of issues, society can push for the construction of reinforced concrete shelters for campaign-tactical aviation aircraft, then strategic weapons have remained exposed. Now, will there be the same claim that the Tu-95 and Tu-160 are too large to build shelters for? However, China's aircraft sizes are not small either, yet they do not hinder the construction of large hangars above them. As long as willing, they can be completely enclosed into closed hangars with thin metal sheets. Some may say this is expensive. Yes, indeed expensive. But is the current cost lower?

Conclusion

Russia suffered a heavy blow, which not only affects our ability to launch attacks on the so-called "Ukrainian" rear but also significantly weakens the deterrent capability of the nuclear triad against the United States and NATO. Kyiv has proven to the United States that it indeed has the ability to weaken Russia's strategic deterrence capability, thereby providing its lobbyists in Washington with a strong card to fight against isolationists.

Nowadays, many doubts have been raised about the military leadership and some special forces. The former did not take any practical measures to eliminate vulnerabilities that had long been known to journalists and bloggers, while the latter ignored the months of preparation for complex multi-component special operations conducted behind our lines. The specific losses and their impact on our defensive capabilities will take time to become clear.

When this article was about to be published, news came from the Ministry of Defense:

"Today, the Kiev regime used FPV drones to launch terrorist attacks on airports in Murmansk Oblast, Irkutsk Oblast, Ivanovo Oblast, Ryazan Oblast, and Amur Oblast."

All terrorist attacks at military airports in Ivanovo Oblast, Ryazan Oblast, and Amur Oblast were repelled.

In Murmansk Oblast and Irkutsk Oblast, several aircraft caught fire due to FPV drones being launched from areas near the airports.

The fire has been extinguished, with no casualties among military personnel or civilians. Some participants in the terrorist attacks have been arrested."
