Formally reject our application! On May 1st, according to AFP reports, Florian Guillerm, the Executive Director of the European Aviation Regulatory Authority, clearly stated that it would take three to six years for the agency to certify China's COMAC C919 single-aisle commercial jet. As we officially notified them, the C919 cannot be certified by 2025, and we should certify the C919 within three to six years.
Obviously, this announcement from the European side also means that Europe has formally rejected our application. In fact, in order to obtain European certification, we have done a lot of work. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) set a goal to obtain the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification this year, in order to achieve the international sales of this aircraft and successfully enter the European market.
However, this final announcement from Europe means that the time for us to enter the European market has been significantly delayed, and our C919 aircraft flying routes from China to Europe has become impossible. In fact, judging from the flight performance of our C919, our narrow-body passenger aircraft has already demonstrated performance on par with that of American Boeing and European Airbus.
Why did Europe ultimately still not approve our application? The fundamental reason is probably that Europe does not want us to quickly grow into an opponent of Airbus. Especially now that Boeing's operating conditions are poor, Airbus is also taking the opportunity to further expand its market share. However, now multiple Southeast Asian countries have started purchasing our aircraft, so we may enter the European market a few years later. But eventually, Chinese aircraft will grow into advanced manufacturers that can rival Boeing and Airbus.
