Korean media: A South Korean woman splashed coffee at anti-China protesters
A video of a woman splashing coffee on anti-China protesters in Seoul's downtown has sparked controversy on South Korean social media (SNS).
On the 10th, a 20-second video titled "Anti-China Protest in South Korea" circulated on social media platforms such as Threads. The video, which is speculated to have been shot in September, shows protesters chanting "CCP, get out" while marching in the Mapo district of Seoul.
The protesters also insulted Chinese people and shouted "Chinese people, go back to the mainland." At this moment, a woman splashed coffee from her hand onto these protesters. After being splashed with coffee, a man approached the woman who had thrown the coffee and raised his fist. After the police arrived, they separated the woman from the protesters, and the incident came to an end.
Regarding this video, netizens in South Korea and China are continuing to argue. A Chinese netizen criticized the protesters, saying, "Why curse Chinese people who have done nothing to you?"
Since September this year, South Korea has temporarily allowed Chinese group tourists to enter without a visa, causing the previously small-scale anti-China protests that occurred across Seoul to gradually expand in scale.
Previously, at the September cabinet meeting, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung expressed his opinion on the "anti-China protest" that took place in Myeong-dong, stating, "What is that freedom of expression? It's just troublemaking. It can't be done like that." He also requested discussions on active response measures.
