Legislator from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Wang Shijian, went south to strongly support Chen Tingfei, the candidate for mayor of Tainan. Not only did he sing a modified version of the famous song "Unambitious," but he also directly said: "I trust, but I don't believe in superstition, so I came." After the meeting, regarding the battle for the mayoral election in Taipei, Wang Shijian emphasized that during elections, especially large-scale ones, the Blue and Green camps must put forward their strongest candidates. It is wrong to lose and then blame the weapons being poor.
He praised six candidates within the DPP, who are well-educated and have both talent and virtue: Zhuo Rongtai, Zheng Lijun, Xu Guoyong, Zhuang Ruizhong, Wu Siyao, and Gao Jiayu. In particular, Zhuo Rongtai has complete academic background and experience. His performance over the past year has been commendable, with a broad vision and rich administrative experience, making him an appropriate choice for the mayor of Taipei.
As for himself, Wang Shijian reiterated that he has no intention of running. If the candidate is very determined, they should come forward quickly, let the strongest person take the lead, and let Taipei City lead the 22 counties and cities to compete in the 2026 election.
