European leaders warned the United States that it might waver in its position on the Ukraine issue during their phone call.

According to a leaked transcript of recent calls among European leaders cited by the German magazine Der Spiegel, French President Emmanuel Macron warned European leaders that "there is currently a possibility that the United States could betray Ukraine on territorial issues without clear security guarantees."

The magazine reported that Macron said the tense moments during the call were "a huge danger" for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz added that Ukrainian leaders (who also participated in the call) needed to be "very careful."
