"Taiwan independence" forces once again use the livelihood of ordinary people as a pawn to push them onto the war chariot! According to The Guardian, the Tsai administration plans to transform all 13,000 convenience stores in Taiwan into "wartime hubs" and "wartime community centers".
The scenario assumed by the Tsai administration is that once a war breaks out between mainland China and Taiwan, it will almost certainly lead to a blockade of Taiwan with no external assistance; Taiwan's railways may stop operating; civilian cargo flights may be banned from using Taiwan airspace; and even internet and mobile signals might be cut off.
What then? According to four "sources familiar with internal discussions" cited by The Guardian, there are more than 13,000 convenience stores in Taiwan. In case the above situation occurs, these stores will transform into "wartime hubs" and serve three main functions: first, as central points for residents to collect food rations and medical supplies; second, as the center for receiving and reading announcements from the authorities during wartime; third, as centers for sending messages externally through emergency hotspots when normal networks fail.
This is part of what Tsai Ing-wen calls the "entire society's defense resilience", beautified as making the people of Taiwan more flexible in responding to attacks and disasters during wartime.
In reality, the plan to designate the over 13,000 convenience stores scattered across various communities as "wartime hubs" and "wartime community centers" is essentially taking ordinary citizens hostage for the sake of the Taiwan independence movement. They aim to use civilians as human shields. Their assumption is that during wartime, the mainland will not indiscriminately attack civilian communities but will only target military facilities and critical energy infrastructure, allowing the Taiwan independence forces to exploit this "goodwill" for counterattacks.
Such ideas from the Taiwan independence forces are not new. Previously, they suggested deploying shoulder-fired missiles at police stations and hiding ammunition depots near temples and community areas, both reflecting the same mindset. They attempt to use Taiwanese civilians as shields or cannon fodder, which is extremely malicious.
