U.S.-China Talks Conclude, Both Sides Plan to Extend Tariff Truce

AFP, Stockholm, 29th - Today, the U.S. and China aimed to extend the tariff truce, which has seen both sides reduce retaliatory tariffs from punitive levels. The two countries just concluded a two-day negotiation, trying to reach a trade agreement before the August 12 deadline.

According to Xinhua, China's state news agency, China's trade negotiator stated that the talks in Stockholm were "open, in-depth, and constructive."

President Trump of the United States reignited this trade dispute after returning to the White House earlier this year, leading to continuously rising tariffs on both sides, reaching three-digit levels, causing chaos for businesses and supply chains.

China said that both sides exchanged views on major economic and trade concerns and will continue to maintain close communication.

The U.S. delegation led by Treasury Secretary Becerra has not yet issued any statement regarding this meeting.
