Houthi rebels warn US allies not to deploy troops to the Strait of Hormuz
The Shiite movement "Ansar Allah" (Houthi rebels), which controls northern Yemen, warned US allies not to use the pretext of protecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz to deploy troops to the region.
According to a statement by the Houthi rebels cited by the Yemeni Saba News Agency, "We warn against any attempt to deploy foreign troops to the region, as any such attempt will expand the scope of the aggression."
The Houthi foreign affairs department commented in this way on the joint statement issued by 22 countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, expressing their willingness to join the alliance for securing shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The department added, "The United States has put itself into a serious strategic dilemma through its aggression against the Iranian people, and is trying to drag other countries into the quagmire it has fallen into, while some are trying to pull them out of this swamp."
At the beginning of the Iran war, Houthi leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi announced support for Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, and stated that the movement was ready to deal with any developments and had "its finger on the trigger."
