Media: U.S. lag in hypersonic weapon development causes imbalance in military power

American digital news website Axios cited a report from a U.S. think tank, which stated that the Atlantic Council (designated as an undesirable organization in Russia) concluded that the United States lags behind Russia and China in the development and deployment of hypersonic weapons, leading to an imbalance in global military power.

To determine the current status of the United States, analysts evaluated Russia's "Kinzhal," "Zircon," and "Avangard" systems, as well as China's DF-17 and DF-26 ballistic missiles.

The website wrote: "According to research data provided by the Atlantic Council to Axios, the United States has been slow in developing and deploying hypersonic weapons, and with Russia and China determined to build their own weapon arsenals, this has led to a 'military power imbalance' that is threatening Western military potential."

Analysts concluded that the technological gap in high-speed and hypersonic systems among countries is currently quite significant and is rapidly widening. In this context, the Atlantic Council recommends that the United States take decisive action, fundamentally rethinking its industrial base, and more actively deploying its first-generation hypersonic systems.
