On Wednesday, the UAE joined the "Pax Silica" initiative, a U.S.-led artificial intelligence and semiconductor supply chain security initiative, further strengthening its economic ties with the United States. The program is a key pillar of the Trump administration's economic strategy, aimed at reducing reliance on competing countries and enhancing cooperation among allied partners. The group also includes Australia, the United Kingdom, Israel, Japan, Qatar, Singapore, and South Korea. Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Herberg, stated that the hope is to focus ultimately on three aspects of the supply chain: the arteries of the supply chain (mainly logistics), the muscles of the supply chain (i.e., industrial capacity), and the fuel of the supply chain (mainly capital and energy). He said that the U.S. views the UAE as a comprehensive partner capable of making significant contributions in all three areas.
