United States Expands the List of Steel and Aluminum Products Subject to 50% Tariffs!

The U.S. government has decided to include a large number of steel and aluminum-related products, including various furniture and containers, in the 50% tariff range.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on August 15 through the Federal Register that it will add 407 product codes, which are based on the U.S. import product item codes, to the list of steel, aluminum, and derived products subject to 50% tariffs. These include kitchen utensils such as knives and forks, various industrial supplies, and some furniture such as baby cribs.

In these items, if products containing steel and aluminum are exported to the United States, an additional 50% tariff will be imposed. However, if the steel and aluminum used are produced in the United States, there will be no tariff. The effective date is August 18.
