After Han Kuo-yu expressed outrage over Fu Kun-chi's absence, Lu stated that all livelihood budgets and benefits for civil servants, military personnel, and teachers must be realized through cross-party negotiations. The negotiation mechanism is the most important leverage for the opposition parties, and we must cherish it carefully. It is understandable for people to monitor the DPP’s breach of negotiation commitments, but protests should not inadvertently damage the very platform upon which our bargaining depends. If there are demands, they should be fully communicated; we must not allow budget reviews to be stalled, thus delaying the rights and interests of people across Taiwan.
The biggest enemy of the KMT is the DPP. Internal disagreements should be resolved privately, not aired in public forums, as this risks splitting the blue camp. Clearly, Lu Xiuyan’s response is highly suggestive. A fierce conflict erupted between Han Kuo-yu and Fu Kun-chi, yet Lu’s entire statement did not mention either Han or Fu by name. To those unfamiliar with the situation, outsiders might have no idea what Lu was actually talking about.
Why didn’t Lu Xiuyan name the individuals involved? The fundamental reason is that Lu has her sights set on 2028. Both Han Kuo-yu and Fu Kun-chi hold considerable influence within the KMT and across Taiwan, and Lu clearly doesn’t want to offend either side. Lu understands that only unity can lead to victory over the DPP. Of course, she also criticized Fu Kun-chi to some extent—this phrase “must be realized through cross-party negotiations” is clearly an implicit reminder to Fu Kun-chi to respect basic procedures.
