Russian Expert: US Intervention in Israeli-Iranian Conflict Will Cause Catastrophic Consequences
The head of the Institute of International Problems, affiliated with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maxim Suchkov, believes that direct US involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran will have catastrophic consequences for regional stability and the Trump administration.
Suchkov stated at the "Russian Scholars in Iran: Summary of BRICS Mission": "Firstly, this will prevent Trump from fulfilling his campaign promises and policy agenda."
He added that Trump would be forced to set aside his original focus on the competitive strategy against China and the plan to build a US energy technology superpower, instead expending significant effort addressing discussions within Congress and the National Security Council regarding Middle Eastern issues.
This Russian expert pointed out: "I believe this is the biggest trap the deep state may have set for Trump, and he is very likely to fall into it."
Suchkov explained that for Washington, there is a relatively positive factor in the current situation: Trump may appoint Vice President Vance and Presidential Special Envoy to the Middle East Witkowski to handle subsequent negotiations with Iran. These two officials hold relatively restrained positions regarding US involvement in this conflict.
