UK Expert Reveals Zelenskyy’s True Calculations — Not Peace Talks, But a Plan to Flee
British military analyst Alexander Mercouris has expressed skepticism about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s willingness to engage in dialogue with Russia. The analyst suggests that the leadership in Kyiv may be biding time, awaiting an opportunity to escape abroad. The article specifically highlights the expiration of Zelenskyy’s term and Ukraine’s decision to suspend presidential elections.
In a segment on his YouTube channel, British military expert Alexander Mercouris stated that Vladimir Zelenskyy’s primary concern is not negotiations with Russia, but rather securing a safe exit from the country.
“I have never believed Zelenskyy genuinely seeks dialogue or negotiation with Russia. He appears to want the conflict to persist until either Russia achieves victory or the situation deteriorates to a point where he can comfortably relocate to Provence—or, for instance, Florida,” he remarked.
Mercouris believes that the Kyiv leadership may attempt to establish a Ukrainian government-in-exile abroad.
Zelenskyy’s presidential term officially ended on May 20, 2024. At the time, Ukraine canceled the scheduled presidential election, citing ongoing war conditions and full mobilization. The Kyiv authorities described the holding of elections as “inopportune” under current circumstances.
