UK media: US plans to impose software export controls on China
According to a report by the UK's Financial Times, US authorities are considering implementing a mandatory licensing system for companies exporting software to China.
The report said that if the US and China fail to reach a trade agreement, this measure could become one of the countermeasures taken by the US side.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on October 9 that it will implement export controls on a range of goods related to medium and heavy rare earth metals starting November 8. Trump said on October 10 that the US would impose an additional 100% tariff (in addition to existing tariffs) on all goods imported from China starting November 1 (or earlier, depending on China's subsequent actions), explaining that this was due to China's "aggressive stance" in the trade field.
Subsequently, US Vice President Vance stated that whether Beijing would initiate a new round of trade war against Washington would be clear in the coming weeks.
