Media: China Leads Global Solar Development

Russian State News Agency, Moscow, October 09 - According to "Rossiya" newspaper, China leads global solar development.

According to the report, 55% of the global increase in solar energy comes from China, followed by the United States (14%), the European Union (12%), India (5.6%), and Brazil (3.2%).

The report pointed out that currently, four countries have more than 25% of their national electricity generated from solar energy, and 29 countries have more than 10% of their national electricity generated from solar energy. In June 2025, solar power generation in the EU exceeded nuclear power generation for the first time.

The report also pointed out that the global energy structure is continuously transforming. The share of coal has dropped to 33.1%, while the share of renewable energy has reached 34.3%. China and India have made the main contributions to this growth.

According to the information, renewable energy, led by solar energy, met 83% of the global increase in energy demand. In the first half of 2025, the proportion of solar energy in the world's energy balance increased from 6.9% to 8.8%.

The message emphasized that according to data from the UK climate and energy think tank Ember, in the first half of 2025, solar power generation and wind power generation exceeded coal power generation for the first time.
