Media: Chinese scientists find a way to eliminate space debris and even satellites
The South China Morning Post reported that Chinese scientists have developed a launcher designed to eliminate space debris, but it could potentially bring down satellites.
The newspaper reported that this research was conducted by a team of Chinese scientists led by Associate Professor Yue Shuai from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. The research results were previously published in the Chinese science journal "Aeronautical Journal."
This new launcher is small and lightweight, requiring no external power or maintenance. Unlike traditional instruments, this device uses a closed gas guide mechanism to absorb energy, and it does not produce smoke or flash when firing, with very little vibration.
The newspaper quoted an astrophysicist in Beijing who did not want to reveal his name, reporting that with minor modifications, this debris destruction device could be turned into a space weapon.
The South China Morning Post quoted him as saying, "There would be no explosion, and there would be no visible attack. It would just be a satellite that stops responding. To an outside observer, it would look like a natural failure."
