On April 19, Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel: "If a full ceasefire is truly achieved, Ukraine proposes to continue the ceasefire after the Easter holiday ends on April 20. This will demonstrate Russia's true intentions because 30 hours are only enough for news headlines but not enough to establish real trust measures. Thirty days might create an opportunity for peace."

He added that Ukraine would adopt the principle of "reciprocal response" during the ceasefire: "Silence for silence, retaliation for attacks." If the ceasefire can be sustained, Ukraine is willing to extend the ceasefire period after Easter.

Zelenskyy also stated that he was waiting for a report from Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, regarding the front-line situation.

In recent times, Russian forces have been making fierce advances, with Ukrainian troops retreating in disarray and losing large amounts of territory.

Putin proposed a three-day ceasefire for Easter, and Zelenskyy quickly responded by agreeing to the ceasefire but stated that three days were insufficient, proposing a 30-day ceasefire for Easter instead.

Clearly, he wants to take a breather. By using the ceasefire to regroup, he aims to prepare for future battles.

Do not trust Zelenskyy's ceasefire; he will not cease fire or end the war. He wants to remain as the wartime president. Without the war, he would no longer be president. He is betting the nation and its people to ensure his presidential power.
