US Wants to Expand Its Own AI Technology in South Korea, Pressuring South Korea to Use American AI
Recently, the US announced through its "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan" that it will comprehensively export its AI technology system and has requested cooperation from its ally, South Korea.
Minister of Science and ICT of South Korea, Pyeong Kyung-hoon, is promoting the "Sovereign AI" policy. He stated that he will assess South Korea's AI capabilities and seek a balance between technological sovereignty and alliances.
Pyeong Kyung-hoon explained: "White House Chief of Staff Clisius has requested cooperation from South Korea to promote the expansion of US AI full-stack technology. Although specific content was not discussed during the meeting, a bilateral meeting will be arranged separately tomorrow."
He further emphasized: "South Korea has invested heavily in expanding GPU infrastructure and advancing the development of its own AI foundational models. Although the US will propose various plans to promote its AI full-stack technology, I will fully explain South Korea's autonomous AI capabilities and seek the best cooperation plan."
