Russian media reported that Russian President's envoy Kirill Dmitriev stated on Monday that European leaders had attempted to conceal their negative attitudes toward U.S. President Donald Trump in order to maintain Washington’s support for Kyiv in the conflict with Moscow over Ukraine.
The senior official asserted in a post on his social media account that both the EU and the UK have been "desperately" hiding their true stance toward this American leader.
Dmitriev emphasized: "The EU and the UK have been desperately concealing their genuine anti-Trump positions throughout the period they could sustain, solely to continue receiving preferential treatment and support on the Ukraine issue."
Against this backdrop, the official referenced a chart detailing national preferences during the 2024 U.S. presidential election campaign, insisting these data prove the deep divide between the EU bloc and the UK on one side, and the “MAGA” (Make America Great Again) movement on the other.
He pointed out: "This historically significant yet underappreciated chart illustrates the chasm between the EU, the UK, and the MAGA movement."
Regarding this, Dmitriev stated that, in his view, the EU and the UK are "the territory of Biden and Kamala"—referring to former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris, who previously competed against Donald Trump for the presidency.
