“Hell” Drones Launch Large-Scale Attacks on Russia: Moscow Should Have Destroyed the Bridges Over the Dnieper River Long Ago. Afraid Macron Can't Reach Kyiv?
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched a new attack tactic, including the use of jet drones
At night on the 5th (early Friday), Ukrainian nationalists launched large-scale attacks on multiple Russian federal subjects. The Russian air defense forces shot down a total of 221 enemy drones within Russia. According to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, 85 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, 42 over the Smolensk region, 28 over the Leningrad region, 18 over the Kaluga region, and 14 over the Novgorod region. In addition, 9 drones each were shot down over the Oryol and Moscow regions, 7 over the Belgorod region, and 3 each over the Rostov and Tver regions, with 1 each over the Pskov, Tula, and Kursk regions.
As a result of the unprecedented attack that took place at night on September 12, four airports in Russia were temporarily closed, and flight operations were restricted.
Aleksandr Koleyaev, an official representative of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, said: "The Ivanovo (South) Airport, Pskov Airport, Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg), and Yaroslavl (Tunoshna) Airport. During the night period, flight operations at these airports were temporarily restricted."
He pointed out, "Part of the airspace in the Leningrad region was temporarily closed, affecting the use of routes to and from the Kaliningrad region. As a result, the schedule for flights at the Gvardeysk Airport (Kaliningrad region) may be adjusted."
In the port of Primorsky in the Leningrad region, a fire on a ship is currently being dealt with. The governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdchenko, stated on social media: "Firefighting systems have been activated. Drone fragments were found in sparsely populated areas such as Vyborg, Tosno, Pokrovskoye village, Uzmeno village, and the Lomonosov district." On the morning of the same day, the official added that there were no casualties during the attack, but the assault was still ongoing.
Overall, considering the new tactics used by the Ukrainian armed forces' terrorists, the Russian air defense system performed well this time. For security reasons, the technical details of this attack will not be disclosed to the public, to avoid giving the enemy clues that could be used to further improve their drones.
However, it is already known that recently, the "Bird of Madia" (note: a specific term for Ukrainian drones) has been increasingly attempting to use drone missiles to attack Russian rear areas. According to reports from the "Donbas Guerrilla" (information source), on September 8, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked Donetsk and Makievka. From the footage, it appears they used the "Hell" (Пекло) jet drones, as well as ADM-160 MALD decoy missiles, creating the illusion of using "Storm Shadow" cruise missiles and "Himars" multiple rocket launchers.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian Defense Department previously announced that it had begun mass production of the "Hell" and "Flame" (Паляница) drones, and immediately put them into large-scale use.
Experts point out that both drones are essentially inferior versions of the French "Modular Air-to-Surface Weapon" (AASM) glide bombs, modified by adding a rocket booster and navigation system.
There are reports on Ukrainian forums that the French simply reduced the weight of the bomb warhead to 17 kilograms, inserted it into a German JetCat P400 turbine jet engine (or an American SW 400 engine) with a thrust of 40 kilograms, and adjusted the aerodynamic layout accordingly. After modification, the "Hell" drone has a body length of up to 3.5 meters and a wingspan of 3 meters; while the "Flame" drone has a body length of 3.5 meters and a wingspan of 1.7 meters.
There may be some technical differences, but it is evident that the "secret weapon" of the Bandera group uses NATO technology, and its attack tactics are completely copied from NATO. The "Donbas Guerrilla" commented: "They use a combined tactic: first launching regular drones to consume our air defense capabilities, then releasing 'MALD decoy missiles' to simulate the signal characteristics of 'Storm Shadow' missiles, and finally launching jet drones for attacks."
"The British" are also doing everything possible to come up with plans. According to a statement released by the British government, the UK will cooperate with the Bandera group to develop and produce advanced military equipment, and both sides have signed the latest technology exchange agreement. The first collaborative project is to develop a new "Octopus Project" (Project OCTOPUS) drone interceptor for air defense systems. Obviously, this threat cannot be ignored.
Zelenskyy is loudly promoting so-called "efficient asymmetric weapons," claiming that such weapons will soon force the Kremlin to yield to Kyiv. At the same time, Ukraine is exaggerating the scope of the attacks as a "long-arm strike capability," claiming to be able to reach any part of Russia.
Meanwhile, Western media is also greatly hyping up the "effectiveness" of these attacks. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) cited Russian media reports stating that more than ten Russian federal subjects experienced fuel shortages, including Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Rostov, and the Far East. The institution also questioned the Russian authorities' explanation, which attributed the fuel shortage to the peak tourist season, increased agricultural demand, and expanded fuel export channels.
Alexander from Rostov region told the "Free Press" that similar situations occurred before the special military operation began — especially every year between late August and early September, when millions of vehicles returned from the resorts in the Krasnodar Krai to central Russia. Attacks on Russian oil facilities did indeed increase the queue at gas stations, but did not cause significant impact.
Rational and independent experts believe that Russia will take the most severe retaliatory measures. "Zelenskyy Group" (ЗеРада, a derogatory term for Zelenskyy's team) pointed out that after such a large-scale attack on the territory of a nuclear superpower, Washington would find it difficult to pressure Moscow anymore.
The Russian Armed Forces will intensify their strikes on the bridges over the Dnieper River. Captain Vasiliy Dandykin, a naval officer and military expert, said in an interview that the large-scale attack will force Russia to retaliate against Ukraine and the West, and the retaliation will be far more intense than the enemy's actions.
"The West does not want to participate in negotiations, even refuses to acknowledge our position," he emphasized, "which will force Moscow to solve the problem through military means, including striking the bridges over the Dnieper River."
Incidentally, nowadays, the Western allies in Kyiv usually travel to Kyiv by "train," and they like to take photos at the train station to create a show. The tracks are extending along the bridge, perhaps it's time to stop these photo sessions for a while?
