Opposition lawmakers gathered in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in South Korea to protest the prosecution's decision not to appeal the Daesung-dong case!
Despite the prosecutor general using a vacation as an excuse to avoid the rally, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office also closed its gates and refused to accept the negotiation requests from the demonstrators. However, the People Power Party insisted on condemning the prosecution in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and called for it to clarify the truth despite external pressure.
The rally demanded that the impeachment of President Lee Jae-myung be advanced through national policy investigations and special prosecutors, and also demanded that Minister of Justice Jeong Sung-ho and Prosecutor General Ro Man-sik resign from their positions.
The leader of the People Power Party, Jang Dong-hee, said: "The only way to impeach Lee Jae-myung and save the chaotic Republic of Korea is to remove Lee Jae-myung from the presidential position. The current situation has happened only because a person named Lee Jae-myung is sitting on the presidential seat. The serious Daesung-dong incident was partially acquitted, but the prosecution gave up the appeal, reducing the value of the development fraud from 80 billion won to 4 billion won, yet gave up the appeal."
"As the parliamentary representative of the Democratic Party, Kim Byung-kyu said, 'Let's conduct a national policy investigation!'
The parliamentary representative of the People Power Party, Song Young-hee, said: "The weak prosecutor general, Ro Man-sik, who personally drove a nail into the lid of the prosecution at the last moment, please immediately resign. Prosecutor General Ro fell before the wind of power and unreasonably overturned the legitimate appeal request of his junior prosecutors. We know that in the 78 billion won of illegal funds of Daesung-dong, there was a share of Lee Jae-myung. The people want to know whether Lee Jae-myung was involved in the decision to abandon the appeal."
After the condemnation rally, the legislators rushed to the main entrance of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, shouting slogans such as "Ro Man-sik come out," "Where did the person who abandoned the appeal go?" and "Submit your resignation and go home." Led by party leader Jang Dong-hee, the leadership tried to enter the interior of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, but the doors remained closed. Standing behind the revolving door, the legislators faced off with the staff of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office for some time.
The legislators again requested a meeting with senior officials of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, but Ro Man-sik was on leave and did not come to work. The vice prosecutor general and the head of the department responsible for the case consistently refused to accept the meeting.
