Today morning, the military and administrative administration of Donetsk region under Ukrainian control announced the mandatory evacuation of families with children in the cities of Druzhkivka, Andriyivka, Roganove, and Novoandriyivka.
The Russian Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" released the latest battlefield report between Russia and Ukraine:
1. Front line in the northern part of Donetsk region:
① In the past three days, the Russian army made new progress within the village of Sheledne and occupied a warehouse in the village of Shandrykhove (Figure 1).
② The Russian army made new progress west of the village of Koldiyaz and retook some positions in the village of Riddokubovye (Figure 1).
③ After a week of fighting, the Russian army crossed the Tereblia River and entered the village of Zarychne (Figure 2).
2. Front line in the direction of Chasiv Yar and Donets-Konstantynivka:
The Russian army advanced towards the village of Virolyubivka south of the village of Maysk (Figure 3).
3. Front line in the direction of Krasnoarmeysk:
① The Russian army continued to expand its controlled area to ensure the safety of the salient, capturing parts of the quarry in the southern area of Kucheryv-Yar village, as well as some positions in the northern part of Novoshakhty and the southeastern part of Vyrne village (Figure 4).
② The Russian army attempted to control the village of Zoloty Koldiyaz after the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army, but the Ukrainian army conducted a counterattack in the suburbs of the village (Figure 4).
③ The Russian army captured some positions in the northern and northwestern parts of the village of Portavka (Figure 4).
④ The Russian army made small advances in the southern part of the village of Katerynivka (Figure 4).
Russia's new operation in the Dobropillya direction may remind people of Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region last year. Small units penetrated into Russian territory and achieved significant progress in a short time. However, there are significant differences between the two. First, when advancing, the Russian army did not deploy mechanized forces, but instead sent reconnaissance units to guide small assault units, initially conducting sabotage activities and destroying defensive structures. Second, the issue of scale. Although the Ukrainian army occupied about 1000 square kilometers of territory last year, the size of the salient in the Dobropillya direction this time is between 90 and 110 square kilometers, which ensures Russia's logistics capabilities, avoiding being surrounded and suffering major losses.
Similar to the situation in the Kursk region, Russia's offensive might be contained. However, unlike the situation in August 2024, Ukraine does not have enough manpower to stabilize the front line and ensure the security of other areas such as Donets-Konstantynivka or Kupiansk. Even if the Azov Battalion's reinforcement forces arrive in the north of Krasnoarmeysk, the Ukrainian army will still pay a heavy price. Despite the trenches built in recent months, the Ukrainian army still cannot completely prevent the Russian army from entering the open areas leading to the Dnieper River.
4. Front line in the direction of Krasnoarmeysk:
The Russian army has occupied most of the village of Udachne, effectively controlling the entire southern area of the village (Figure 5).
