Gaishi Hayato and Hashimoto Yoshihiko had a 20-minute meeting in the afternoon, but they didn't get along well!
The meeting between the president of the Liberal Democratic Party, Gaishi Hayato, and the president of the Constitutional Democratic Party, Hashimoto Yoshihiko, took place in the National Diet at 2:00 PM. Due to their differing positions and limited common topics, the conversation lasted only about 20 minutes.
Hayato Hayato started with the assumption that she had already been nominated to succeed Ishiba Shigeru as Prime Minister, and based on this, she discussed her future policies with Hashimoto Yoshihiko and requested the Constitutional Democratic Party, as the largest opposition party, to assist.
The policy proposals mentioned by Hayato Hayato include taking quick measures to curb high prices after assuming office; promoting the abolition of the temporary gasoline tax rate negotiated with six opposition parties; and designing a system for tax deductions on paid leave, including with the Komeito Party.
After the meeting, Hayato Hayato said, "The Constitutional Democratic Party is the largest opposition party, so regardless of whether my name is likely to be written in the prime ministerial nomination election or not, I have already greeted them. The idea I want to convey is that in the special session of the Diet, we must protect people's lives, and we must cooperate well where we can."
Regarding Hayato Hayato's discussion from the perspective of a future prime minister, Hashimoto Yoshihiko was indifferent. While acknowledging a consensus on quickly abolishing the temporary fuel tax and drafting supplementary budget bills to curb rising prices as the president of the Liberal Democratic Party, he emphasized that the Constitutional Democratic Party is currently negotiating with the Japan Innovation Party and the National Democratic Party to form a coalition government, and has called for cooperation with the Komeito Party.
