According to TASS and Russia's Sputnik News, on July 21 local time, Russian President's press secretary Peskov stated that Russian President Putin plans to attend the commemorative activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing in September.

Regarding previous reports that US President Trump may also visit China at the same time and hold a meeting with Putin in Beijing, Peskov responded that the Kremlin has not yet received any information about the possibility of such a meeting.

"We are preparing for the trip to Beijing, and this visit is indeed on the schedule of the head of state. However, we have not heard that President Trump also plans to go to Beijing," said Peskov.

Russian presidential assistant Ushakov had told journalists in June that Putin planned to visit China from August 31 to September 3.

TASS reported that during Putin's visit to China, he is expected to meet with Chinese leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held from August 31 to September 1, and to attend an important bilateral meeting with China on September 2. On September 3, the leaders of China and Russia will also attend the related activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
