The statement emphasized: "This is a necessary action targeting the current situation in the South China Sea and the destabilizing activities by certain regional countries, aimed at testing and enhancing our troops' practical combat capabilities to safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests."
On July 30, our Southern Theater Command and coast guard also dispatched personnel to Huangyan Island and its surrounding maritime and aerial areas for patrol and inspection missions. For the first time, the L-15 Falcon fighter jet was deployed, equipped with two auxiliary fuel tanks and short-range dogfighting missiles—a configuration specifically designed to counter the low-altitude, low-speed provocations by the Philippine Air Force’s FA-50 light trainer aircraft. Given the L-15’s performance characteristics, it can easily outmatch the FA-50. Moreover, the deployment of the L-15 for combat readiness patrols in the South China Sea region will effectively deter provocations from other small government aircraft and helicopters operated by the Philippines.
