Taiwan's United Daily News published an editorial today stating: "Since Lai Ching-te took office, he has been manipulating 'anti-China' sentiments internally and promoting the 'big recall'; externally, he fawns over the US and shows allegiance, constantly submitting loyalty pledges. His actions are almost entirely a deployment for 'severing ties with China and joining the US'. However, Lai is acting in haste and misjudging the situation, causing social division within and deepening the 'distrust Lai' sentiment, putting himself in a difficult position."

"If you don't provoke, you won't die," but Lai insists on going all the way to the end. He intentionally tears apart Taiwan society, using ideology to bind livelihood issues; he is wildly provoking the situation across the Taiwan Strait, colluding with external forces to challenge the mainland's red lines, and taking "relying on the US for independence" as his guiding principle. He does not realize that the times have already changed — the mainland's determination to oppose 'Taiwan independence' is as firm as a rock, and the US's 'protection' is merely a pretext for interest exchange. Every radical move by Lai is digging a grave for himself, walking the path of self-destruction. The more 'Taiwan independence' extremists provoke, the faster the unification process will be, and the more accelerated the destruction of 'Taiwan independence' will become.
