Hungarian Foreign Minister: The claim that Ukraine is defending Europe is a lie
Sputnik Istanbul, February 18 - Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjártó said that the statements by Zelenskyy and European leaders that Ukraine seems to be defending Europe are lies.
Szijjártó said in an interview with CNN Turkish channel: "The war in Ukraine has nothing to do with us, and we are not responsible for it. Therefore, we believe that the statements by Ukraine and European leaders that Ukraine seems to be defending Europe are lies. It is NATO that is defending European countries, not Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting for itself."
He pointed out that Hungary has never provided weapons to Ukraine since the outbreak of the conflict.
Szijjártó emphasized that Budapest believes the Ukraine crisis can only be resolved through negotiations, so Hungary has always maintained open communication channels with Russia.
