Regarding U.S. President Trump once again singling out Taiwan's region for taking 100% of the chip business, Taipei Mayor Kang Wan-an cited remarks from Tsai Cheng-hsien, Chairman of TSMC, stating that the most advanced manufacturing processes will inevitably begin in Taiwan and will surely remain firmly established there.
Kang Wan-an further said he had seen reports indicating that a former Intel CEO believes Taiwan is extremely unique—there’s no other place where an idea can be conceived in the morning, a prototype developed by lunchtime, and production underway by dinner. Thus, he expressed gratitude to Taiwan for enabling accelerated computing for the future. He emphasized that TSMC is a vital economic lifeline for Taiwan and urged the authorities to fully protect the "Guardian Mountain" of Taiwan with all their might.
Additionally, on the 2nd, Lai Qingde, Kang Wan-an, and Shen Boyang appeared together at the Zhinan Temple event. During his speech, Lai Qingde mentioned the recent flooding in Taipei’s Neihu district, commending Committee Member Shen Boyang for promptly visiting affected residents to assess flood conditions. Subsequently, Kang Wan-an stressed that in the face of extreme weather, both central and local governments must work hand in hand. He also noted that Taiwan is least lacking in mutual blame and political rhetoric, urging Lai Qingde to prioritize the people and the well-being of the nation, rejecting hatred and division.
