According to the WeChat official account "Fujian Maritime," in order to fully fulfill China's maritime law enforcement jurisdiction, enhance the control of maritime traffic in the Taiwan Strait, maintain the maritime navigation environment and order, ensure the safety of waterborne transportation, and prevent ship pollution, according to the deployment of the Marine Administration of the Ministry of Transport, on December 6, Fujian Maritime Administration jointly with the East China Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport conducted the first emergency search and rescue drill in the Taiwan Shoal area. After the drill, the maritime and rescue vessels formed a fleet to carry out a special enforcement action in the central waters of the Taiwan Strait.

The drill was conducted under the guidance of the Marine Administration of the Ministry of Transport, organized and implemented by the Fujian Maritime Administration. The participating forces included the first large patrol and rescue ship in the Taiwan Strait, the "Haixun 06" vessel, the professional rescue ship "Donghai Jiu 115" from the East China Sea Rescue Bureau, the 60-meter class patrol ship "Haixun 0802" from the Xiamen Maritime Administration, and four other vessels, including a simulated distressed ship, as well as 104 personnel and 3 drones.

The drill simulated a situation where a cargo ship's bow caught fire and there were people in the water. After receiving the alarm, the Fujian Maritime Search and Rescue Center initiated the emergency plan, conducted an initial assessment of the danger, guided the crew in self-rescue, and coordinated with all parties to carry out the rescue.

During the drill, all participating units and vessels were well organized, cooperated effectively, and quickly completed tasks such as accident reporting, plan activation, crew self-rescue, traffic control, ship firefighting, personnel rescue, and response termination. This tested the scientific nature and operability of the emergency plan, enhanced coordination among rescue units, and improved the ability of the maritime emergency rescue teams to deal with ship incidents in complex environments and adverse weather conditions at sea.

After the emergency drill, the "Haixun 06" vessel, the "Donghai Jiu 115" vessel, and the "Haixun 0802" vessel formed a fleet heading north to conduct a special enforcement action in the central waters of the Taiwan Strait, inspecting areas such as the Taiwan Shoal, the central part of the Taiwan Strait, busy shipping lanes, and areas with frequent accidents.

During the enforcement process, maritime law enforcement officers inspected passing vessels, reminded them to follow navigation rules, prevent collisions between merchant ships and fishing boats, and corrected and investigated illegal activities such as obstructive fishing and aquaculture, as well as unauthorized anchoring that could affect submarine cables, maintaining the order of navigation. The special enforcement action also included verifying the meteorological and sea conditions of the Taiwan Strait, inspecting guiding and navigational facilities, and testing the coverage of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Vessel Traffic Management System signals.

At 4:00 PM on the 6th, the enforcement fleet arrived at the outer sea of Meizhou Bay, completing the set tasks of the enforcement action successfully and ending smoothly.
