The US government explains why Russia was not subject to the additional tariffs on yesterday's list:
On April 3, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bechtel stated that due to the impact of sanctions, trade between the United States and Russia (as well as Belarus) has completely halted.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt emphasized that the current sanctions have "substantially eliminated all significant trade."
However, the US media outlet Axios refutes the official statement, pointing out that bilateral trade is still ongoing. Despite a reduction in scale by over 90%, US trade with Russia remains higher than that with Mauritius and Brunei, which were included by Trump in the tariff list.
