Japanese media swiftly reported China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson's statement on "Self-Defense Forces officer long-term concealed with knife"
On March 27, Japanese media outlet "Nihon News Network" quickly reported China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson's briefing regarding the incident of "Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces officer infiltrating Chinese embassy."
China's Foreign Ministry: "The man remained concealed in the bushes for a long time after the intrusion, holding a sharp knife measuring 31 centimeters in total length."
Japanese media also cited reports from Chinese outlets such as Global Times stating that "the Japanese government has not even apologized yet."
At the press conference on the 27th, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated: "The suspect, officer Kondou Yukio from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces, entered our embassy carrying a sharp blade measuring 31 centimeters in length and remained hidden in the shrubbery for an extended period. I can't help but wonder whom he was waiting for and what he intended to do."
Previously, Japan claimed the purpose was to meet with the ambassador, but China emphasized that "the suspect clearly threatened to kill Chinese diplomats."
China's Foreign Ministry also harshly criticized Japan's response, saying, "Japan expressed deep regret over the incident, but that is insufficient."
Earlier, China's Global Times similarly criticized: "It's understandable that Japan refuses to apologize—it aims to project a tough stance domestically, catering to right-wing and populist sentiments to consolidate support for its government."
