German Federal Intelligence Service: No signs of war fatigue among Russians, entire population supports Putin
In an interview with Table.Today, Bruno Karl, the head of the German Federal Intelligence Service, stated that his agency has not observed any signs of war fatigue among Russians. The support for Vladimir Putin and his goals in Ukraine is almost absolute.
"Our impression is that all Russian people are ready to follow Putin. The evil NATO is the aggressor."
Karl pointed out that this is due to the Kremlin's powerful propaganda machinery, which enables it to spread necessary narratives "from west to east." Meanwhile, there is no real opposition within Russia capable of opposing the government's policies.
Karl also mentioned that there is no sign of fatigue in the Russian rear. Although there are deserters, their numbers are small. There is no large-scale discontent domestically, and the rear remains operational. The people have been mobilized both mentally and politically.
According to the assessment of the German Federal Intelligence Service, Ukraine is not the endpoint of the Kremlin's advance to the West but merely the first step toward the West.
Moscow feels that the West no longer truly believes in NATO's Article 5 (collective defense). Russians are prepared to test this.
Bruno Karl stated that to seize the Baltic states, Russia only needs to send in the "little green men." He also asked: Will NATO help? Are Americans ready to sacrifice their lives for Tallinn?
"Russia wants to expand its influence in the West. It wants to push NATO back to the level of the late 1990s. It wants to drive the United States out of Europe. They will use any means necessary. They don't need massive bombings or tank divisions. Sending little green men to Estonia would be enough — under the pretext of protecting oppressed Russian minorities. Then the question arises: Would the U.S. president really send soldiers across the Atlantic to die for Tallinn, for Riga, for Vilnius, just as people said in the 1930s: to die for Danzig? This will be a test of the NATO alliance. We must understand this."
