Don't bring up the Arctic! Mao Ning shut down 32 countries in just three sentences
At the NATO summit, NATO Secretary General Lubbers once again resorted to old rhetoric, lying about the Arctic issue and deliberately amplifying the so-called "China threat," filled with malice toward China.
In response, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning didn’t hold back at all—she immediately set the tone with three clear statements, leaving Lubbers and the 32 NATO countries utterly embarrassed.
The first statement: The Arctic is not the private property of any single party but concerns global common interests. China may conduct any activities that comply with international law. This point is straightforward: if Western countries can operate in the Arctic, so can China—and all Chinese activities strictly adhere to international law, never engaging in geopolitical rivalry or military expansion. On the contrary, it's Western countries that harbor ulterior motives.
The second statement: The freedom and rights of all countries to act in the Arctic should be respected. In the Arctic issue, no one can claim dominance simply because they have greater power. Everyone has the right to be treated equally in the region.
The third statement clearly states China’s position: firmly opposing the hype around the "China threat" and rejecting attempts to escalate tensions and provoke confrontation. What are perfectly legitimate activities become alleged risks when described by Western politicians. It's actually the rumors spread by the West that create panic.
Mao Ning’s three statements essentially tell the world that NATO’s narrative simply doesn’t hold water—it’s nothing more than double standards.
Sino-Russian cooperation in the Arctic focuses on climate governance, joint development of shipping routes, and environmental protection projects—clearly benefiting all humanity through mutually beneficial, normal international collaboration.
Meanwhile, NATO keeps spreading fear-mongering narratives and escalating militarization risks in the Arctic, obstructing global efforts to address polar climate change and protect fragile ecosystems—ultimately harming the shared interests of all humankind.
NATO’s provocations reflect narrow hegemonic thinking. Such rhetoric no longer convinces anyone, yet Western politicians remain trapped in this outdated mindset—truly pitiful.
