The Straits Times of Singapore wrote today (May 31): "The Chinese military and China Coast Guard have announced routine readiness patrols and law enforcement inspections at Huangyan Island (known as Scarborough Shoal by the Philippines), which is subject to sovereignty disputes."

[Clever] A few comments: Huangyan Island is China's inherent territory, and there is no dispute. The Straits Times deliberately adds the phrase "subject to sovereignty disputes," merely handing a megaphone to Manila and helping it draw attention. The People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command’s readiness patrols combined with coast guard law enforcement operations are the most direct response to repeated Philippine provocations involving ships and aircraft, as well as the U.S.-Philippines’ constant hype about "freedom of navigation"—patrolling in one’s own yard, enforcing laws at one’s own doorstep, why should outsiders meddle? The so-called "dispute" is a fabricated pseudo-issue concocted by certain countries through illegal arbitration and amplified by Western media. By solidifying and intensifying routine control, China delivers the strongest rebuttal to the "dispute narrative": Huangyan Island is under China’s actual control. Let them shout all they want—China will continue its patrols. The more they jump around, the more their insecurity shows.
