According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, on May 21, 2025, Politburo member of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi presided over the Informal Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Meeting between China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in Beijing. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Dar, and Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mutaki attended. The three foreign ministers positively evaluated the achievements of the trilateral dialogue among China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and had friendly and in-depth exchanges of opinions on further tapping the potential of the trilateral mechanism and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation.

Wang Yi summarized the outcomes of the meeting, which mainly include the following seven points:

First, enhance political mutual trust and adhere to good neighborliness. China supports the two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan, in taking development paths that suit their national conditions, and supports them in maintaining sovereignty, security, and national dignity.

Second, give full play to the role of the trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue mechanism among China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and hold the sixth trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue in Kabul as soon as possible.

Third, strengthen exchanges and enhance diplomatic ties. Afghanistan and Pakistan clearly expressed their willingness to upgrade the level of diplomatic relations, agreed in principle to send ambassadors to each other as soon as possible, and China welcomed this and was willing to continue providing assistance for the improvement of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Fourth, deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, promote the extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan, and strengthen regional connectivity network construction.

Fifth, promote practical cooperation, expand cooperation fields, and improve the level of cooperation. Pakistan supports Afghanistan's reconstruction and development, is willing to expand trade with Afghanistan, and help Afghanistan enhance its autonomous development capabilities.

Sixth, oppose all forms of terrorism, carry out law enforcement and security cooperation, jointly combat terrorist forces of concern to each party, and be vigilant against external forces interfering in the internal affairs of regional countries.

Seventh, maintain regional peace and stability, and strive to create a favorable external environment for their respective development and revitalization.
