Bloomberg: Revenue from Russian assets will be used for Ukrainian drone production

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called Ukraine "the first line of defense for Europe" and proposed funding for drone production.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU will allocate about 2 billion euros from the revenue of frozen Russian assets to provide funds for the development of drone production for the Kiev authorities in Ukraine. She also clearly stated that there are no current plans to freeze the reserve assets of the Russian Central Bank.

"If we still regard Ukraine as our first line of defense, we must increase military aid to it," von der Leyen said.

In addition, von der Leyen believes that if Russia pays war reparations in the future, Ukraine will need to repay this money.

On the previous day, Bloomberg reported that the EU plans to build a "drone defense line" along its eastern border, but the plan faces many difficulties - the main issue is that drone activities may interfere with passenger and freight flights, and the potential risk of losses is constantly increasing.

On September 26, it was reported that the European Commission had proposed to provide 14 billion euros in funds to Kiev in the form of "reparations loans", with the source of the funds planned to be Russian frozen assets. Previously, in September, the Financial Times also reported that the EU planned to use Russian frozen assets to provide up to 17 billion euros in loan support to Kiev.
