Sputnik News, London, March 19 - The UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Japan stated that, in the context of the Iran conflict, they are willing to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

A joint statement released by Downing Street said: "We are willing to contribute to ensuring the safety of shipping (in the Strait of Hormuz)."

The above six countries also called for an immediate halt to attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key passage for Gulf countries to export oil and liquefied natural gas to the world market, with about 20% of global oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas passing through here.
