Economic Corridor: Russia-led "North-South" Transport Corridor's annual freight volume to reach 20 million tons.

Kazinform reported that Kazakhstan has launched a series of projects aimed at enhancing the freight capacity of the "North-South" transport corridor. Dilmuhamed Sembayev, Director of the Department of Transport Policy of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, introduced relevant progress at the Kazakhstan Exporters Forum.

He stated that the "North-South" corridor is an international transport route with great potential connecting Russia, Iran, India, and Gulf countries. The eastern line can transport 10 million tons of cargo annually, including 60 million tons transshipped through the Boroshchalk station and 40 million tons transported along the Caspian Sea coast ports.

Sembayev pointed out that in order to enhance the attractiveness of transit transportation, Kazakhstan offers a 50% discount on transportation fees for transit goods passing through its territory.

"The 'North-South' International Transport Corridor Eastern Line (via Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Iran) Potential Coordinated Development Roadmap for 2024-2025 has been approved. At the same time, railway departments of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan are cooperating to promote the project of the unified logistics operator for the eastern line of the 'North-South' corridor. The expansion project of border stations in the western regions of Kazakhstan is also ongoing, with plans to complete it next year," he said.

Sembayev added that overall, these measures will increase the annual throughput capacity of the "North-South" corridor to 20 million tons.

On the 12th, at the Kazakhstan Exporters Forum, Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Asset Nusupov introduced the support provided by Kazakhstan to exporters in recent years.
