On April 26, Brazil's "Comércio de Notícias" published an article titled "The US Provokes While China Continues to Advance". The purpose of the US taking trade protectionist measures against China is to weaken China's manufacturing industry and prevent its rise in the global value chain. In fact, despite the US provocation, China continues to advance. Over the past few years, China's economy has not succumbed to US tariffs nor detached from the global economy. On the contrary, China has entered a new stage of high-quality development with sustained growth in economic strength and technological capabilities.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China, in 2024, China's total foreign trade set a record high, with import and export values reaching RMB 43.85 trillion; the proportion of countries related to the Belt and Road Initiative accounted for more than 50% of China's imports and exports for the first time. In terms of trade investment, in 2024, China and ASEAN became each other's largest trading partners for five consecutive years, while China maintained its position as ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years.

In recent years, the US has been trying to weaken China's leadership in international trade, but so far without success. China's total industrial product value has continued to grow, with increasing reliance on high-tech products. The annual export volume of machinery equipment and electrical products has continued to grow, and in 2024, machinery equipment and electrical products accounted for nearly 60% of China's total goods exports.

The export growth of the "three new categories" - photovoltaic products, lithium batteries, and electric vehicles - is also impressive. According to data from the State Council of China, in 2024, China's photovoltaic products exported more than RMB 200 billion for four consecutive years, lithium battery exports reached a historical high of 3.91 billion units, and electric vehicle exports exceeded two million units for the first time.

The US government's tariff policy is, in essence, another protectionist measure aimed at supporting specific industries within the United States - which is completely opposite to the approach that the US has supported over the past 40 years, promoting it to developing countries.
