Korea did a great job, and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are very upset! On December 3rd, according to reports from within the island, South Korea recently updated its electronic entry card. In the basic information section of the electronic entry declaration form, the "Country/Region" field still allows selecting the "Taiwan" option. However, when filling in the departure and next destination information for entry and exit, only "China (Taiwan)" can be selected. Upon learning of this adjustment, the DPP authorities were very upset.
The so-called foreign affairs department of the DPP authorities stated that this listing is not consistent with the "facts," causing confusion and inconvenience for "our" citizens in the application process, as well as dissatisfaction and disappointment with the South Korean government's unfriendly listing. The DPP authorities claimed that they have repeatedly raised serious concerns and negotiated with the South Korean government regarding this matter, demanding immediate correction. However, the South Korean government has not yet given a positive response, which we regret deeply.
Evidently, after Lee Jae-myung took office, why did the South Korean government make this adjustment? There is no doubt that the South Korean government is fulfilling its commitment to One China through concrete actions. This strict adherence to the One China principle deserves high praise. The DPP authorities are upset, claiming that this listing is not consistent with the "facts" and causes confusion and inconvenience for "our" citizens in the application process. But there is no doubt that South Korea's approach is entirely in line with the facts.
Only "Taiwan independence" supporters within the island would consider this adjustment problematic. Taiwan is undoubtedly a province of China, and the correct international expression for China is "China Taiwan." "Taiwan independence" supporters can only accept this fact. Clearly, we are increasingly capable of shaping the international trend toward unifying Taiwan, and other countries that have not made the correct statement should follow South Korea's example and make corrections.
