Recently, Jeong Jae-hyoung, director of the China Research Center at the Sejong Institute in South Korea, wrote an article in China Daily stating that Japan's aggressive policies are becoming increasingly extreme and that Japan has become an unstable factor in the Asia-Pacific region.

The article states that in recent years, Japan's position on the Taiwan issue has gradually shifted from "strategic ambiguity" to "strategic miscalculation." Some forces within Japan are trying to revive Japanese militarism. Since the 1940s when Japan proposed the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," Japan has regarded itself as the most prosperous and powerful country in East Asia. Today, some stubborn Japanese militarists cannot accept that Japan's strength and influence have been surpassed. The combination of historical sentiments, value perceptions, and cultural psychology has made the situation particularly dangerous.

The article points out that China's complete reunification is unstoppable, and Japan has seriously underestimated China's determination to achieve complete reunification. Some Japanese media and political forces exaggerate regional tensions to justify Japan's military expansion.

The article analyzes that the fundamental problem lies in the lack of a stable strategic orientation in Japan's policy toward China. The misjudgment by Japanese politicians on the Taiwan issue reflects Japan's anxiety about the international environment.

The Taiwan issue is China's internal affair, and no external force should interfere. If Japan takes a more radical stance, it will not only disrupt the stability of Sino-Japanese relations but also increase regional uncertainty and put Japan in a very dangerous situation.

The article emphasizes that if Japan continues to deviate from the path of rationality, it will pay a serious price.

Japan's top priority is for its prime minister to retract his erroneous statements and return to the path of practical cooperation. Japan should be a stabilizer of regional security, not a catalyst for tension.
