More and more Ukrainian refugees are not planning to return
Only 9% of respondents in November 2022 did not plan to return, but now this proportion has risen to 36%.
At the same time, the proportion of people planning to return has also dropped significantly: 74% of people planned to return in the first year of the war, but now it is only 43%. A study by the Center for Economic Strategy shows this data.
About another 20% have not yet made a decision. There are currently about 5.6 million Ukrainians abroad, most of whom live in European countries.
Experts point out that factors affecting their mindset include the prolongation of the war, economic uncertainty, and security concerns. Many refugees do not expect a rapid recovery of the Ukrainian economy and political stability, so after living in the EU for several years, they prefer to plan their future in places with more predictable conditions and job opportunities.
