According to the China National Space Administration (CNSA), the selected experiments come from 11 countries and regions, including a special project of the International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems.
The selected projects include a multi-functional robot created by two teams from Hong Kong universities;
An intelligent lunar rover developed by Middle East Technical University of Turkey;
A dual-country imaging system co-designed by Bahrain and Egypt;
A potential sensor provided by the Iranian Space Agency. Etc.
The Chang'e Eight mission, scheduled for launch around 2029, will head to the Leibnitz-Beta Plateau near the lunar south pole.
In another initiative to promote scientific openness, China also announced that it has opened up the samples brought back by the "Chang'e Five" mission to foreign researchers. At the Space Day ceremony held in Shanghai, officials from the China National Space Administration (CNSA) signed agreements with seven institutions from six countries to share these lunar materials for analysis.
This includes the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (France), the University of Cologne (Germany), Osaka University (Japan), the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, the Open University of the United Kingdom, as well as two American universities.
"The lunar samples not only belong to China but also to the whole world, representing the common wealth of all mankind," said the China National Space Administration.
This highlights China's confidence and responsibility as a major country.
