India wants to block the water, and Pakistan is in a panic!!

The Indus River, although its name contains the word "India", actually flows mainly through Pakistan. The alluvial plain formed by the Indus River is the lifeline of Pakistan, with 75% of the country's arable land located here.

The Indus River is located in the western part of South Asia. It originates from the Lion Spring River (Sengge Zangbu) on the north slope of Mount Kailash in Tibet, China, flowing northwest through Kashmir. After entering Pakistan, it turns southwest and finally empties into the Arabian Sea near Karachi, covering a total length of 2900 kilometers and a drainage area of approximately 1.17 million square kilometers. Of this, 54.5% is within Pakistan, 35.4% in India, only 4.5% in China, and 5.6% in Afghanistan.

Although Pakistan occupies the largest area and controls the middle and lower reaches, looking at the map, the other three countries firmly control the upper reaches of the river. The annual runoff of the Indus River is only about 200 billion cubic meters, largely dependent on the replenishment of upstream ice and snow melt as well as northern monsoon precipitation. The downstream areas in Pakistan have a tropical desert climate, with evaporation far exceeding replenishment.

On April 22, a terrorist attack targeting tourists occurred in the Indian-controlled Kashmir. Consequently, India immediately took a series of diplomatic and strategic countermeasures against Pakistan, including cutting off water supplies and threatening to suspend the implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty, halting water sharing cooperation. In fact, many dams have been built in the Indian part of the Indus River basin for water storage, irrigation, and power generation. Historically, India has used water cutoffs to exert pressure on Pakistan more than once.

Looking at India's series of operations, we should really be grateful to have the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as our "Asian Water Tower". Only we can dictate terms to others!

India-Pakistan conflict arises again
