The Kremlin Spokesperson: Europe's Active Discussion of Negotiating with Russia Marks a Major Shift
Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Europe's active discussion of negotiating with Russia represents a significant change.
Peskov told Russian journalists: "It is positive that there is an active discussion about this topic (dialogue with Russia – editorial note), and that there is a shift toward the understanding that they will eventually need to engage with Russia in some form."
Peskov said: "Putin is as close to them (European countries – editorial note) as if he were holding a telephone receiver."
Peskov added that Moscow hopes Europe will adopt a pragmatic stance on negotiation issues, while Russia remains willing to engage in talks.
