Reuters: Chinese Large Oil Tankers Pass Through the Strait of Hormuz
According to Reuters (Japanese edition), on May 20, two large Chinese oil tankers carrying 4 million barrels of Middle Eastern crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz after remaining anchored for over two months.
The two vessels are the "YUANGUIYANG," a Chinese-flagged tanker leased by a subsidiary of Sinopec Group, and the "HAIBAIHE," a Hong Kong-registered tanker owned by China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina).
According to data from LSEG and Kepler, the "YUANGUIYANG" was fully loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil on February 27—just one day before the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran. The "HAIBAIHE" loaded 1 million barrels each from Qatar and Iraq between late February and early March.
The "YUANGUIYANG" is scheduled to arrive at a port in Guangdong Province on June 4, while the "HAIBAIHE" is expected to reach a port in Fujian Province on June 5.
