Police in Saint Petersburg conducted a sudden raid at the Sennaya Square market. Officers verified foreign nationals’ identification documents and military registration status.

Readers of Fontanka reported that the market has been sealed off, surrounded by special forces, with individuals inside prohibited from leaving after completing religious services. One person eventually released from the restricted zone stated that law enforcement officers checked IDs and military registration records among those present.

An additional eyewitness said that draft summonses were being distributed inside the market. Multiple vendors confirmed undergoing document checks; those unable to produce valid identification were taken for further verification.

The Telegram channel “Baza” reported that special forces and investigators were examining foreign nationals’ documents within prayer areas. Staff from the conscription office involved in the operation focused on verifying military registration details of individuals who had recently acquired Russian citizenship.
