Russian defense company "Sovemash" has demonstrated a heavy quadcopter drone called "Butterfly," which can drop FAB aerial bombs. This heavy drone can carry a 250 kg FAB-250 aerial bomb.
The drone manufacturer stated that, except for the electronic equipment used for engine control and batteries, all other components have been completely domestic. In the future, they plan to achieve 100% domestic production. At the same time, the brushless motor used by this drone weighs 24 kg and has a maximum power of 60 kW, making it the most powerful in its category.
In the future, a major role of heavy quadcopter drones will be to drop glide-guided bombs, especially those glide-guided bombs modified from large-caliber artillery shells, allowing regimental units to directly possess faster and more precise strike firepower.
